Performance Camp for young people
In the summer of 2021, we held Summer Performance Camp 2021 for 10 young boys and girls. The camp lasted 6 weeks with two trainings per week for 4 of the weeks. There was a "holiday" in week 29 and in week 30 we were hit by corona.
It was possible to participate in single weeks or all 4 weeks where there was training
The goal of the camp is to show how we can quickly and effectively improve their skills through proper (and different) performance training.
Pro Agility Test
We met 9 times in total, where for the first and last training we tested the youngsters in Pro Agility with our infrared Timing System which is a 5, 10, 5 m runner test. That is, over the 6 weeks there were a total of 7 training sessions.
Here you first run 5 meters one way, change direction and run 10 meters, change direction back and run 5 meters across the finish line. The great thing about this test is that it measures your ability to accelerate and change direction which is extremely important in ALL sports.
Building the training
All trainings were structured according to the following model:
- 10 min dynamic warm-up
- 10 min movement prep
- 15 min agility & plyometric training
- 20 min strength exercises
- 15 min cardio training with focus on turns & acceleration
On the first day of the week, the focus was on linear acceleration, while on the second day it was on turns and direction changes.
Results
The 5 footballers who participated in the whole camp received both pre and post tests and the progress speaks for itself.
